Your Skin And Acne

Your Skin and Acne

By Kathlene R. Amerine

You look in the mirror today and you see you have developed

a new “zit”.  How do you go about clearing up this problem you

see so vividly on your face?

Well, follow your mother’s childhood directions for your skin and

acne by cleaning it gently!  Don’t go at this “zit” with the vengence of

wrath!  Scrubbing at it with strong detergent soaps will only

make your skin problem worse.  Most doctors agree with your

Mother, they recommend using a mild cleanser for your skin and

acne problem, once in the morning and once before you go

to bed.

Ask your doctor or another health professional for advice as to

which cleanser to use for your skin and acne care.

Acne skin care also means washing your skin after any heavy

exercise.  You should wash your face from under the jaw to your

hairline.  Do not use rough scrubs or pads.  It is truly important

to thoroughly rinse the skin with clear water after washing it.

You risk developing scars if you begin to squeeze, pinch or pick

at your acne blemish.  Additional acne lesions can form in areas

where pressure is frequently applied to the skin.  And if you take

your skin and acne seriously, you must resist rubbing and touching

the skin lesions.

For the older people who suffer, your skin and Rosaeca may really be

what you are battling with.  Commonly referred to as “adult acne”,

it can not be healed using traditional acne over the counter remedies.

You must confer with your Doctor to get a prescription gel application

to fight this ongoing disease.

The cosmetics you use, such as foundation, blush, eye shadow and

moisturizers, should be oil free.  You may find it difficult to apply your

foundation evenly during the first weeks of your treatment.  Your skin

and acne may be red or scaly, particularly if you are using topical

treatments such as tretinoin or benzoyl peroxide. Hair products should

typically be labeled as “Noncomedogenic” (does not promote the

formation of blemishes.)

Remember that sunburns can seriously damage acne prone skin.  The

suntan or sunburn that reddens the skin is very deceiving.  It may make

the blemishes less visible, and the skin feel drier for a little while, but the

benefits are temporary!  The sun promotes aging of the skin, and causes

skin cancer and many medications you might use could make you prone

to burning your skin.

Your skin and acne can be healed.  By taking control of your blemishes,

you can take back your life and be the person God meant you to be!

Patients should wash their face from under the jaw to the hairline; rough scrubs or pads should not be used. It is important that patients thoroughly rinse their skin after washing it. Astringents are not recommended for acne skin care unless the skin is very oily, and then they should be used only on oily spots. Doctors also recommend that patients regularly shampoo their hair as part of acne skin care. Those with oily hair may want to shampoo it every day for proper acne skin care.
